God I fucking hate Gwent, it reminds me of every CCG on the planet: Either you have all the cards and can steamroll people or you're piss poor and don't. So yeah, although most decks are beatable with practically nothing but luck, you really do want good cards still to beat them. For example, I got 2 horns and 3 "same-name" 4-power cards, meaning that if I played those 4 cards together then I got 72 damage. Also, utilising "same-name" cards is a must. The Horn is the best card in the game, by far, and I've got 2 so most wins are fairly straight forward. I've won about the same amount of games as I've lost and most of my games were played against decks that were far, far better than my own. You can still win the games if you play extremely well and get very lucky, but it'd just be much easier to have good cards. Most of the cards are simply direct upgrades and the best cards are literally unbeatable (10 damage, can't be weathered, heal another from your grave) by comparative cards. Personally, I disagree with those who say that Gwent is mostly pay to win or luck based or whatever.Ĭards like Spies, Healers and Feint are absolutely essential if you want to win.Īnyway, I agree that it's not entirely "pay" to win, but you will increase your winrate from 20% to 80% if you find and use good cards instead of bad cards. r/Skelligers - r/freefolk equivalent of The Witcher.r/WitcherTRPG - For The Witcher Tactical role-playing game developed by R.
